The area

Western Jutland (Vestjylland)

The wedding will take place on the western coast (facing the North sea) of mainland Denmark which is known for its pristine beaches and rough nature - shaped by the somewhat unpredictable and windy weather conditions.

Lemvig & Trans

Lemvig is situated in a cove and is with an area of approximately 465 km2 or 288 square miles, one of the largest municipalities in Denmark (in size, not in number of inhabitants!). Nørre Vinkel Hotel where the dinner will take place is situated 2 km or 1.2 miles north of the Lemvig town centre, in Lemvig Marina.

Lemvig is the largest proper town close to Trans town which is where Anders’ family has lived for around 9 generations - at least the part carrying the Kirkeby name. Trans only has around 70 inhabitants and  is not actually a town but merely a country parish. Though meadows on the parental land hints to a grander past as a iron age trading post.

The population does however increase significantly when all the holiday homes dotted around the area fill up during the summer, Easter and Christmas holidays. Of course the population of 70 is gigantic compared to neighbouring Kirkeby (meaning "church town") from where Anders gets his surname, which you would miss when driving by even if you did not blink. Not surprisingly you will find the church close to kirkeby ("church town").

Trans Kirke (The church)

Trans Kirke is situated on the top of a slope overlooking the North Sea. It was built in the granite ashlar style that was in vogue in the early 1200s on the top of the remains of three earlier wooden churches, the oldest from approximately year 1000 (viking era).
